About Us
The Sherman Chamber of Commerce has been serving business in the Sherman area since 1913. Today, the Chamber strives to provide the best services to the Sherman community just as they have for over 90 years.
So, what exactly does the Sherman Chamber of Commerce do? It is a legitimate question - and not an uncommon one. The Sherman Chamber of Commerce gathers and passes along information, prints brochures and promotes Sherman as a great place to live, do business and visit. Those things are the fringe benefits of the Chamber - the things we do as a matter of routine and because they need to be done. But, the primary function of the Chamber is as a catalyst, a common vehicle through which business and professional people work together for the common good of the city and its businesses.
Among the Chamber mission is working with businesses, other organizations, and individuals to help build a healthy economy, encourage and manage robust growth and find ways to improve the quality of life. That is no small task in this area with the rapid pace of growth.
Additionally, the Chamber focuses on providing resources and education for business owners, and acting as the ''eyes and ears'' of the business community on legislative and regulatory issues. A series of informative monthly luncheons and other seminars underpins the educational mission; communicating with policymakers at the local, county, state and federal level helps fulfill the other portion of that mandate.
