"The Sting"
The comedy/crime/drama movie “The Sting” will be viewed and discussed at the March meeting of the Classic Movie Discussion Group. Johnny Hooker pulls a street con and unknowingly steals from big time crime boss Doyle Lonnegan. Lonnegan demands satisfaction for the insult and orders that Hooker be killed. Hooker dodges the would-be killers and seeks the help of Henry Gondorff, a master of the long con. They devise a scheme to take Lonnegan for an enormous sum of money and amass a talented group of other con artists to help sting Lonnegan and even the score. Robert Redford plays Johnny Hooker, Robert Shaw plays Doyle Lonnegan, and Paul Newman plays Henry Gondorff. The background music includes “Piano Rag” by Scott Joplin.
