Community Behavioral Health Conference 2021
The Texoma Behavioral Health Leadership Team (TBHLT) of Grayson County is hosting the fifth annual Community Behavioral Health Conference (CBHC) in memory of Dr. Don Rodgers. The event will be virtual and is scheduled for 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM May 7th, 2021. Gail Utter, co-founder of the Texoma Behavioral Health Leadership team says, “...the Community Behavioral Health Conference…(is) really the ability to bring the community together and talk about mental health issues.” Continuing Education Credits are available for Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Social Workers, and Licensed Marriage and Family Counselors. Despite this audience of professionals, all community members are encouraged to attend. Harry Lemming, CEO of TMC Behavioral Health says, “Every one of us is on the front lines...dealing with mental health.” At the core of the conference is an overwhelming desire to break through the stigmas surrounding mental illness that prevent people from seeking help before it is too late. Reducing stigma is everyone’s responsibility. Michelle Lemming of the Texoma Health Foundation says, “Every one of us can have a role in being able to address stigma”. Dr. Trivedi of UT Southwestern, a speaker at CBHC 2020, says “The best solution for darkness is light. The best solution for stigma is knowledge and information.” As a virtual event, it will be different from previous years with a variety of speakers and presentations ranging from prerecorded and highly produced content to live zoom calls featuring discussions with leaders in mental health. Guests will be granted access to a live video stream where they can engage with a live stream, participate in Q&A via a chat window, answer polls in real time, visit virtual sponsor booths, and network with other attendees. With 2020 behind us, the theme this year is “Building Resilience and Connecting to Hope in Difficult Times”. Talks at the conference will feature topics such as trauma stewardship, Teen Talks, well-being and the workplace, mental health and diet, plus mental health stories from those in our own Texoma area. Featured speakers will include: Dr. Chan Hellman from Oklahoma University Best Selling Author, Laura Van Dernoot Lipsky - Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others The Honorable Drew Bynum former Grayson County Judge Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Dornstadter with the US Army The conference’s presenting sponsors are: - The Texoma Health Foundation - Utter Family of Dealerships - Oliver Dewey Mayor Foundation Tickets are $60.
